Seriously. As if the gubmint didn't already have their fingers in enough private sector pies, Henry Waxman (sponsor of the tremendously popular H.R. 2454) seems to think the fed now has to bail out (i.e. own) yet another failing business model.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A top Democratic lawmaker predicted on Wednesday that the government will be involved in shaping the future for struggling U.S. media organizations.

House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman, saying quality journalism was essential to U.S. democracy, said eventually government would have to help resolve the problems caused by a failing business model.

Waxman, other U.S. lawmakers and regulators are looking into various options to help a newspaper industry hurt by the shift in advertising revenues to online platforms.

First off, if the government controls the media it's no longer a democracy, it's a communist/authoritarian state. Second, if a business model is failing it's for a reason. They produce a product or service that is no longer in demand. If you can't keep up with the times close your doors and find a new line of work. This is ridiculous. Wouldn't spend your hard earned money on an overpriced, low quality GM product? Makes no difference, they got your money anyways. Rather read your news online? Makes no difference, your tax dollars are going to bail out every newspaper printer in this country. I guess they'll ship all those newspapers that our money is going to print and no one in this country is going to buy to Russia, China, Cuba, Venezuela, and Iran so at least they can get some use out them burning them or wiping their asses with them. Fuck, 2012 can't get here quick enough.

But, he was just being respectful, right?

Ft. Hood shooting victim

A man had a TV on in his office when the news of the military base shootings came on. The husband of one of his employees was stationed there. He called her into his office and the minute he told her what was going on, she got a text message from her husband saying, "I am okay".

The cell phone started ringing right after that. It was an ER nurse. She said, "I'm the one who just sent you a text, not your husband". She thought the message would be comforting, but she immediately knew she had to let the wife know what was going on.

She said, "I am sorry but your husband has been shot 4 times and he is in surgery".

The wife left Southern Clinic in Dothan and drove all night.

Miraculously, here is the photo I just received from my brother that was taken today in the hospital room. He is awake and will recover. His wife, who lives in Dothan , made it to Ft. Hood about the time he was waking up. He had visitors. It was NOT Obama!!!

Reporting from Washington - Troubled by the rising jobless rate, President Obama and the Democratic majority in Congress are assembling a new jobs package that would devote billions of dollars to projects meant to put people back on payrolls in 2010 and keep them working.

Discussions over the scale of the bill are fluid, but lawmakers said the intent was to move swiftly and get a bill to Obama's desk as early as January.

The renewed push to create jobs is driven by a recognition that the $787-billion stimulus program enacted in February is not a sufficient remedy for an unemployment rate that stands at 10.2%.


So lemme get this straight. $787 billion of our tax dollars were spent ostensibly to revive a struggling economy. We're now suffering double-digit unemployment, Q3 2009 home foreclosures are at a record high, and Obama is asking Mr. and Mrs. John Q. Taxpayer for $400 of last years tax credit back. Apparently that stimulus package didn't work (except for Chrysler, GM, AIG, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac), now they're asking us to finance another one? Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase give till it hurts. Mr. Obama and your Democratic majority, this one's for you:

Here in America, those that defy a dictator are called racist, un-American, disruptive, hostile and belligerent.

"They often don't get far before being confronted by President Mugabe's riot police," Obama said at a ceremony for Magodonga Mahlangu and the organization she helps lead

Much, MUCH different than being confronted by President Obama's SEIU.

The United States wants Mugabe to halt political arrests and media censorship

But political arrests and media censorship are what our current regime are all about (just no waterboarding), so why isn't it ok for everyone else in the world to do it? What's with the double standard? Fucking two-faced socialist bastard.
